Excelsior Classes Refund & Change Policy for SY 2026-2027

Refund Policy & Class Change Policy

Excelsior Classes understands that family circumstances may change. At the same time, accurate enrollment is essential for building strong, well-attended classes where students can thrive. Our policy is designed to balance classroom stability and teacher compensation with family flexibility.

Any course canceled by Excelsior Classes prior to the start of classes (due to class minimums or other reasons) will receive a full refund of all tuition and applicable fees.

Non-Refundable Fees

The following are non-refundable under all circumstances:

  • Family registration fees and individual student fees
  • Self-paced course purchases — once a student has been placed into a self-paced course, no refund is available regardless of whether the course has been accessed
  • Course deposits — see below

Refund Schedule

Refund eligibility is based on the date written notice of withdrawal is received by Excelsior Classes. The course deposit is non-refundable and is factored into the percentages below.

Fall and Full-Year Enrollments

Written Notice of Withdrawal Received Refund Amount
Through July 30 70% of total tuition
August 1 – first Friday of classes (5:00 PM ET) 50% of total tuition
After the first Friday of classes (5:00 PM ET) No refund

Spring Enrollments

Written Notice of Withdrawal Received Refund Amount
Through December 23 70% of total tuition
December 24 – first Friday of classes (5:00 PM ET) 50% of total tuition
After the first Friday of classes (5:00 PM ET) No refund

Course Changes: Your Two Options

If you need to drop or switch a course, you have two options. Note that refund eligibility and course switch availability each have their own deadlines — see below.

Option A: Switch Courses (No Refund Requested)

Switching courses is free. Many programs charge a course change fee — we don’t. If you switch to another available course and do not request a refund:

  • Your course deposit transfers to the new course
  • Any tuition payments already received apply toward the new course’s tuition
  • All transfers must occur within the current academic year and are subject to availability and approval
  • Course switches are available through the end of the first week of classes only. After that, course movement is generally not permitted.

This is a direct fund transfer and is not considered a refund.

Option B: Withdraw and Request a Refund

If you withdraw and request a refund:

  • Refunds are issued according to the schedule above
  • The course deposit is non-refundable and is retained
  • After a refund is issued, the retained deposit may be applied toward the deposit for another course within the current academic year — for any registered student in the family
  • Each retained deposit applies to one new course only. Multiple deposits may not be combined or stacked onto a single course registration. For example, if you withdrew from three courses and have three retained deposits, each deposit may be applied toward one new course registration — they cannot be pooled or stacked onto a single course.
  • Unused retained deposits expire at the end of the current academic year and may not be carried over.
  • To apply a retained deposit to a new registration, families must request a coupon code in writing
  • Any new registration is a separate transaction subject to current pricing and availability

Additional Details

  • Refunds are calculated based on payments received as of the date written withdrawal notice is received
  • For payment-plan participants, any applicable refund is limited to tuition collected to date; remaining scheduled drafts will be canceled upon withdrawal
  • Refunds are net of any payment-processing fees (credit card or ACH) already incurred

ESA and Third-Party Funded Enrollments

Excelsior Classes’ refund policy applies equally to all families, including those using Education Savings Accounts (ESA) or other third-party funding sources. By enrolling, families agree to these terms regardless of funding status, reimbursement delays, or vendor approval outcomes.

Parents are financially responsible for any tuition or fees not covered by the funding source, including any resulting balance due. Families with unpaid balances may be ineligible for future enrollment.

Questions about course changes or withdrawals may be directed to our registration team at registration@excelsiorclasses.com.

This policy applies to the 2026–2027 academic year and supersedes all prior versions.
