Michelle Sparks is a retired classroom teacher, flower farmer, and homeschool mom. She loves working with children and witnessing light bulb moments. Her favorite aspect of teaching is engaging with students and watching them grow in their own independence as they learn and gain confidence in their own abilities. She loved teaching her students all subjects because she could connect with students in many different ways!
Michelle holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Western Michigan University with a triple minor in Elementary Education, Math & Science, and English with certification in 1st-8th grade. For the past six years, she has been extremely fortunate that her main role has been homeschool teacher for her teenage son, an opportunity that has been a truly unexpected blessing. Before that, she taught for 26 years in a north Texas school district.
Michelle is currently a Master Gardener and volunteers by growing a cut flower garden at a local nature conservancy. She also was a girl scout leader for many years and is active in her son’s Scout troop. In their homeschool co-op, she gets to teach skills she greatly enjoys such as quilting, sewing, and gardening.
Michelle lives in rural Michigan with her husband, teenage son, two dogs, three cats, four goats, and a large flock of chickens. She and her family enjoy being outdoors, enjoying the beauty of nature, especially growing hundreds of cut flowers. She loves to craft, read, and enjoy time with her family.
