In this year-long course, our goal is to help students who are nearing graduation prepare for the transition into college and their future careers. The class will provide a blend of college, career, and life skills, while creating a space for students to reflect on their calling, align their faith with their future, and connect with their peers. Throughout the course, students will explore a wide range of topics that are crucial for their next steps after high school.
Students will begin by reflecting on their personal identity and what God’s calling might be for their future, then move on to determining a career path that aligns with their passions and skills. They will gain practical knowledge on choosing the right college, navigating the application process, and understanding how to finance their education. In addition to these academic topics, students will learn valuable life skills like time management, study techniques, and independent living.
As the course progresses, students will dive deeper into managing their faith during college and beyond, as well as building important soft skills, such as communication, resilience, and self-advocacy. They’ll explore career-building essentials like creating resumes, interviewing, networking, and developing a professional online presence. Further, the course will address financial education, budgeting, and how to make smart, informed decisions about money.
The program also provides students with opportunities to reflect on their long-term goals, such as setting personal and professional objectives and creating a roadmap for their future. As they near the end of the course, students will focus on preparing for life after college, including understanding employee benefits, navigating job searches, and how to integrate faith into their careers.
Ultimately, this course aims to create a supportive community using Yellowdig, a digital platform, for students who are preparing to make big life choices as they move beyond high school. By helping students develop the necessary skills to succeed in both college and their careers, the class will equip them with the confidence and clarity to confidently pursue their next chapter.
Please note, students must be 17 years old as of 08/31/2025 to enroll in this course, and no exceptions will be made.
