Derek Rose is happy to be teaching with Excelsior Classes. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, and then later returned to school to earn an MBA with a focus in General Management. As a homeschool dad and business executive, Derek brings some unique skills and passions to the Excelsior Classes consortium.

Derek’s career has been a mix of both education and business. In the field of education, he served as the Campus Director for technical colleges in which he managed academic department heads, oversaw the admissions department, and assisted in managing campus operations. He also taught business courses, helped to develop a new academic program, and was a regular guest speaker in a class called Strategies for Success.

Currently, Derek works in industrial technical sales and project management overseeing project proposals across functional departments and numerous industries. This gives him the opportunity to work with a wide range of businesses to help them achieve their goals. In addition to this experience, he has worked as headhunter/recruiter. He has a passion for helping others to obtain jobs that they love. He enjoys coaching others on how to approach employers, interview for positions, and negotiate for the right opportunity. These experiences are exciting, fun, and rewarding for him. His goal is to bring these same experiences to the students at Excelsior Classes.

When he is not working, he likes to spend time with his family. He has been married since 2001 and has three kids, two dogs, and three cats. He loves to travel and has enjoyed the experience of building houses for families without a home in Guatemala. He enjoys running and spending time at the gym with his sons, and he has a passion for classic VW Beetles. He owns a 1971 Bug that he would love to tell you about!
