Did you know that French is spoken in five out of the seven continents, including six European countries, eighteen African countries, three Asian countries, and four nations in the Americas? Acquiring a working knowledge of French truly has potential to unlock the world for language learners!
In French 2, students will review and integrate the vocabulary and grammar learned in French 1 as they continue to improve their skills in the four areas of communication: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Not only will they develop their ability to communicate in the present and the past, but they will also learn to speak about future and potential plans. As in French 1, French 2 will further explore the cultural riches and differences in the francophone world.
It is my hope that French 2 students will feel even better equipped and inspired to one day visit one of the many French-speaking countries and enjoy using their language skills to go beyond mere tourism and truly engage people of another culture, as this can be one of the most enriching experiences imaginable!

Dr. Brigid Kharoufeh holds a B.A. in French and a B.S. in French Education from Miami University of Ohio, an M.A. in French from Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D. in French from Ohio State University. Brigid loves to teach and share her passion for the French language and culture with others. She has had the opportunity to teach students of all different ages: elementary, middle school, high school, and college. Brigid believes the best way to relate to others is to learn their language. In fact, language itself is a window into culture!
