The course lab manual will be supplied via PDF after the course begins.
Laboratory Component: Because this is a required lab science in most states, we will perform experiments on a weekly basis. We will use a variety of virtual and hands-on experiments.
Lab Supplies: Students will receive a lab kit in the mail before classes begin that includes lab items that will be needed during the year. Items in the kit include beaker, test tubes, graduated cylinder, flask, microplate, pH paper, universal indicator, magnesium ribbon, several chemicals, etc. There will also be some perishable or liquid items that students will supply themselves from home such as liquid detergent, milk, baking soda, vinegar, etc. (a complete list will be given in class and in Canvas). The kit will be approximately $75, and the teacher will give instructions for paying this lab fee sometime in late July/early August.

Mrs. Childress was a fantastic teacher this year for our Chemistry class! It was easy to do labs at home with the recommended supplies and materials. My daughter enjoyed her thorough way of explaining concepts, which made it easy for her to learn. We highly recommend Mrs. Childress’ class.

We LOVE Mrs. Childress!! She has taught all of my children and I know when I enroll them in her courses, they are not only going to learn, but they are going to LOVE LEARNING with her. She cares about her students and goes above and beyond to keep parents informed and year after year she exceeds my expectations. I would give her 6 stars, but the rating scale only goes up to 5.

Mrs. Childress is just simply an excellent teacher! She is knowledgeable and passionate about Chemistry. My older girls took it from two different online teachers at different schools and simply put, once we found Mrs. Childress, we won’t go anywhere else. I have now had 2 other daughters with Mrs. Childress and their understanding of Chemistry is far above that of their sisters. It is absolutely true that the teacher makes all the difference, and that difference is Mrs. Childress. Look no further. This is the best Chemistry class around!

My son, Grant, took chemistry with Mrs. Childress. In addition to the technical ease of the class – as well as Mrs. Childress always being on time and highly responsible, Grant learned the material in an engaging manner and did well in the class. Mrs. Childress was always willing to answer questions and make adjustments for anything out of the ordinary that might have been going on in my son’s schedule.
I’m thankful for this class!

My two oldest children took Chemistry with Mrs. Childress (in different years), and both greatly enjoyed it. We found it to be just the right amount of challenge. The live classes were engaging, the assignments were clear to understand, and Mrs. Childress was always great about getting back to us about any questions that we had. I would highly recommend this course!

Our son raves about how engaging, responsive, helpful, and kind Mrs. Childress is. She is patient in answering questions in class, and genuinely wants her students to succeed. She can anticipate what students might struggle with and gives opportunities for extra practice. He is looking forward to taking A&P with her next year.

This is the 3rd class that all of my students have taken with Mrs. Childress. She’s so kind, patient, knowledgeable and has a heart for the Lord. We very blessed. Thank you.

My son took this class and said that Mrs. Childress was the best “math” teacher he has ever had. She explained math concepts (required in chemistry) better than any teacher he has ever experienced!
