Physics is a college-preparatory algebra-based physics course appropriate for STEM and non-STEM students covering core physics concepts which will give the student an appreciation and understanding for the physical properties and interactions of the universe. Calculus is not required for this course. The course will cover topics such as forces, motion, momentum, work, energy, thermodynamics, waves, light, electricity, circuits, and magnetism. Students will be challenged to apply their knowledge of the laws of physics to answer conceptual physics questions in addition to completion of math-related physics problems.
Labs will be a mix of virtual labs and at-home, hands-on labs requiring simple supplies found at home or at the local “big-box” store. A supply list will be given upon enrollment of the course.
Our self-paced offering allows students to work at their own pace in our learning management system. Students are provided with a full year of access from the date of login generation and access.
Using a modular approach, this course is the equivalent of our regular live session course in terms of content, assessment, and feedback. Included in your purchase is a block of two hours of live meeting time with the teacher. This may be used in 15 minute increments. Once past the two hours, parents may purchase additional time (if necessary) from the instructor.
At the end of the twelve month time period or upon earlier completion of the course, a Final Grade PDF will be provided of the grade. Should the student not complete the course, an audit or the grade at the final week of the course completed by the student will be sent.

Because this is a required lab science in most states, we will perform experiments on all weeks except test weeks. We will use a variety of virtual and hands-on experiments. A list of supplies will be provided. Many items can be purchased at local stores but several items will need to be ordered.
Dr. Amanda Hunter has enjoyed math & science since she was a child and became very interested in health care in high school which led her to Purdue University where she earned her Doctorate in Pharmacy in 2005. After seeing how closely diet and lifestyle are related to health and prevention of chronic disease, she also completed the Institute for Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching program in 2014.
While she loved working in a traditional Pharmacy setting, Amanda has the heart of a teacher. Amanda’s significant educational background combined with her collegiate coursework and teaching experience make her a wonderful math and science teacher. Her students have included pupils who are advanced STEM students and those who are not as STEM-inclined. Amanda works to make her classes very practical while maintaining a college-preparatory standard. Students will learn how algebra, science, and health concepts will be applied to their adult-lives even if they do not enter a math/science field!. Online teaching for the past 7 years has allowed her to combine her favorite things… teaching, children, math, science, and health.
