Russian Literature is both fascinating and rich. It deeply explores the internal, psychological lives of its characters, contains intriguing plots, and often includes central themes that involve the Christian faith. The length of many of these works make them difficult to cover in a traditional course, but they are absolutely ideal for an independent study. Have you always wanted to tackle a long classic like War and Peace but struggled to find the time due to the length? Now’s your chance! Do you enjoy philosophy and philosophical debate? The Brothers Karamazov would be a great read!

Works to be covered and the student’s objectives and goals for the semester need to be approved by the teacher before the semester begins.  Books by Pushkin, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Turnegev, Zamyatin, and Solzhenitsyn may be chosen. Other book choices outside those authors will need approval and may require an additional fee.  Students will meet with the teacher an average of 3-5 times during the semester.
