Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. This class will delve into the biological, social, environmental, cultural, and religious factors that effect the human experience as they relate to both cognitive and physical development. Understanding how people perceive the world is key to understanding how and why we think, do and say what we think, do and say.
Through understanding theories of development, perception, behavior and interaction, we will begin to unpack a greater understanding for the thoughts and actions of both ourselves as well as others. We will touch on many topics within Psychology including: Neuropsychology, Human Development, Gender, Perception, Learning, Memory, Motivation, Emotion, Stress, Personality, Therapies, and Abnormal Psychology.
We will dive into theories of Psychology from a Christian perspective. Activities and discussions are aimed at conveying information about the topic as well as assisting the students in gaining a better understanding of who they are and who God is calling them to be. Students will gain a strong understanding for the range of ideas and subfields within Psychology as well as begin developing the skills to challenge research and theories. Strong emphasis will be given to applying theories to real-life examples and experiences.

Jenn Buonincontri believes that every person that crosses her path has something to teach her and vice versa. Learning is life-long, and she embraces the opportunity to share with others her love of learning while challenging those around her to expand their understanding. Jenn graduated from Hartwick College with a B.A. in Psychology in 1998 and continued on to her first M.A. in Psychology focusing on Statistics and Neuropsychology in 1999. From there, she proceeded to the City University of New York and studied Developmental Psychology. Earning another M.A. in Developmental Psychology and a Masters in the Philosophy of Psychology in 2002, she then transitioned from her own studies to teaching others.
Student A –
A very good glass. I’d recommend to upper class men (11-12th grade).

Mrs. B is a superb teacher. She explains the subject matter in an engaging and understanable way. I highly recommend her classes for all students who are prepared for the level of coursework required.
