This course involves the study of biological, psychological, social, cognitive, and spiritual aspects of development from birth through death, as well as the interaction of these aspects as they influence human development across the lifespan. Through the examination of various theories and research, this course will allow students to experience a greater understanding of humans throughout the lifespan.

The developing person experiences an array of physical, social, cognitive, spiritual and emotional changes throughout life, and such changes are primarily dependent upon the stage of life in which one finds himself or herself. Through the examination of theories and research, this course will allow students to experience a greater understanding of themselves and others and will challenge students to more fully appreciate and respect the many phases of life.

This course is designed to help prepare the student to better understand infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly in regards to how not only our physical needs and abilities change throughout the lifespan, but also how our emotional/cognitive/social/spiritual development all interact with our physical development at each stage of our life.

SPECIAL NOTE: This course is available as dual credit; however, a student does not have to dual enroll to take the class. This is a rigorous course intended for students ready to handle university-level content and pace. Please contact the teacher if you have any questions about placement.
